Saadian Tombs Visitor FAQ
Real answers to the questions visitors ask most before and during their trip to Marrakech.
All Questions
How much do Saadian Tombs tickets cost?
Entrance costs 100 MAD for foreign adults and 50 MAD for foreign children (7–13), or 30 MAD / 10 MAD for Moroccan nationals and residents, payable in cash at the on-site booth. Moroccans enter free every Friday and on the first days of national and religious holidays. There is no official online ticketing — see the tickets page for a full price table.
What are the Saadian Tombs opening hours?
The site is open daily from 9:00am to 4:45pm, including weekends and most public holidays, with last entry shortly before closing. Arriving near opening avoids both the midday heat and the tour-group crowds that build up by mid-morning.
How long does a visit take?
Most visitors spend 20 to 30 minutes moving through the Chamber of the Twelve Columns and the garden tombs. The site itself is small, and movement is often slow since only a few people can pass through the narrow entrance corridor at once.
Is there a dress code?
As a historic mausoleum standing beside an active mosque, modest dress is expected of all visitors: shoulders and knees covered, and nothing overly sheer or revealing. There is no head-covering requirement to enter the tombs themselves.
Where exactly are the tombs located?
The tombs are on Rue de la Kasbah in Marrakech's Kasbah district, directly beside the Kasbah Mosque, about a fifteen-minute walk south of Jemaa el-Fnaa through the medina, past the Badi Palace ramparts.
Can I enter the Chamber of the Twelve Columns itself?
No — visitors view the chamber from its openings and the surrounding walkway rather than stepping inside, which protects the marble and gilding. This is the single most common source of visitor disappointment, so set expectations before you go.
Is the site wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Access is difficult: the entrance passage is narrow and uneven, with a few steps and no ramp. The garden courtyard is flatter, but the site as a whole was not built with modern accessibility in mind.
Can I combine the tombs with other Kasbah district sights?
Yes — the Badi Palace and Kasbah Mosque are both a short walk away. See our Kasbah district guide for a suggested route.
